Craighaven Leviosa

 

We’re thrilled to have recently acquired Billy’s father Craighaven Leviosa. He is a handsome 9 yr old bright bay with white markings. He is the classic jumping type with a tremendous shoulder and lots of power behind. He stands at 16hh and has outstanding European Bloodlines on both sides. 

 

Sire: His sire is Volatire II whose pedigree features some of the finest jumping horses in Europe. His grandsire Voltaire is the result of crossing two outstanding bloodlines Furioso II and Gotthard. Furioso II produced 200 State Premium Mares and 68 approved Stallions to stand at stud in several continents and have influenced the breeding industry worldwide. His dams sire is Gotthard who well after his death is almost a legend in German Sporthorse breeding, his name being synonymous with the Hanoverian Showjumper.  Voltaire II's dam is the mare Daydyne by the Dutch sire Nimmedor, whose influence in breeding jumpers has been significant with 30 Approved Stallions standing worldwide. Nimmedor was performance tested in 1975 and left no doubt as to his particular specialty - jumping. He was ridden at International level and was invited to go to the Los Angeles Olympic Games but the owners declined, deciding to devote Nimmedor to his breeding activities.

 

Dam: Craighaven Leviosa's dam is by Kingsway Diamond (Irish Draft) who needs no introduction. His dam was by In the Purple (jumping TB) out of a Kurdistan mare. These TB sires frequently appear in the pedigrees of many top NZ jumpers.  

 

Leviosa’s progeny are already making an impact in the show arena competing with consistent success both in showjumping and eventing. At the recent NZ National Breeders Championships his progeny won the overall Champion led Sport Horse and as well as the Champion Led Four year old and five year old sections, winning ahead of imported stallions progeny.

 

Leviosa was lightly ridden as a youngster, then due to a stable injury was turned out and used as a breeding stallion. We decided to see whether he was sound enough to be ridden. We picked him up one day, rode him the next and it was as though he had never had a day off even though he had not been ridden for over 4 years. He has impeccable manners, is very eager to learn, loves to jump and we’re delighted to have such a wonderful willing horse to work with. It’s easy to see where his son El Billionaire gets his loveable friendly nature from.                                                                                                                                                                                            

This stallion was bred for showjumping & eventing but as he is very athletic, his progeny would be suitable for any equestrian discipline including; dressage, show hunter, trekking, hunting and western riding. 

 

As long as his injury remains sound he will be competing under saddle in NZEF Showjumping and Showhunter this season. 

 

He will be standing at stud on the Environment Award Winning farm, Mataiwhetu Station in the beautiful Kaimai Ranges, Tauranga.
